Bio

DFect is a London-based Hip Hop MC who also dabbles in production. He grew up listening to a variety of musical genres, but was mostly drawn to hip hop.

He spent five of his teenage years living in France, during which time he began beat-boxing to provide the beat for his friends to cypher.

Eventually, his friends started to encourage him to rap and at 16, he wrote and recorded his first song "I'm Sick". He posted the song online and it caught the attention of two producers known as Ojah & Most-Hi, who contacted him giving him the chance to visit their studio and show them what he was capable of.

DFect saw this as a great opportunity and gave up everything in France to chase his dream back in England. For the first couple of months he sofa-surfed and even slept in a friend’s garage until finding his feet and teaming up with the producers to work on a mixtape whilst attending a Music Technology course at Lewisham College.

While working on writing & recording, DFect performed regularly at music venues around London.

After recording a percentage of the mixtape at the studio, creative differences arose which led to DFect re-recording his debut mixtape by himself at home.

The new version of DFect's debut mixtape "Hard Est. '92 (2.0)" will be available to download FREE from March 28th 2014!!!
